Aloo Pie

For the Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp butter
1 tsp sugar
3/4 cup water

Mix flour, baking powder, butter, salt and water to form a dough. Set aside to raise and covere with damp cloth.

Divide dough into medium size balls. Like roti size.

Tips:
When mixing the dough, if its too hard, add a little bit of  water. please note, I used a Kitchen Aid Mixer to make the dough.

For the Aloo:

3 large Idaho potatoes
1/2 tsp roasted ground geera
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
oil for frying

Peel and cut potatoes into cubes.  Boil potatoes in hot water until tender, but not too soft.

Drain and mash potatoes.

Seasoned potatoes with salt, black pepper, and roasted geera.

Potatoes are ready to be added to the dough.

Cooking the Aloo Pie:

Flatten the each dough with a rolling pin to form a round 5 inch circle.  Fill with 3 tbsp potatoes in the center of the circle.

Wet around the edges with water and seal tightly.

Stretch the pie with your hand to about 6 inches.

Fry in hot until until golden brown.

Drain on paper towel and serve with your favorite sauce. Tamarind or mango chutney.
