Guyana Curry Same





1 lb Same
3 medium potatoes or eddoes
2 1/2 tbsp curry powder
1/2  tsp roasted ground cumin
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 medium chop tomato
Salt and Pepper to taste
2 tbsp chop onion
2 tsp  chop garlic
1 1/2 tbsp oil
Boiling water


Clean the Same and add to boiling water. Cook for a few minutes and drain. Set aside.

Peel potatoes and cut into slices.

Combine curry powder, roasted geera, and turmeric  together, and mix with 1 tablespoon water.

Set aside.

In a medium pot, heat oil and add garlic, then add onion and saute for a few minutes.

Add curry mix and continue to saute.  Add chop tomatoes and Same and continue to cook.

Let Same cook for a few minutes, add potatoes and continue to cook for a few more minutes.

Add water to cover Same and cover pot. Cook on low heat until Same is nice and soft. 

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with Rice or Roti.
