Kurma/Mithai

2 cups flour
1/4 cup vegetable  butter  shortening
2 tbsp condensed milk
1/2 tsp cardamon powder
3/4 cup water
vegetable oil for frying

Syrup:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup powder sugar for garnish

Add shortening to flour and mix until crumble. Add cinnamon, condensed milk and water to form a dough.

Roll out the dough until it's about 1/4 inch thick,  and cut into strips 1/3 inch wide and 4 inch in length.

Heat oil in a medium pot until hot. Fry strips until golden brown.

In a small pot, combine sugar and water and boil. (syrup is ready when it drips and form long threads from the spoon).

Pour syrup  over kurma turning until the syrup coat all of the kurma.
